What a Night, Minnesota Sri Lankans! 🎸

Clarence – Rhythm of the Guitar lit up Minnesota like it was the 1970s all over again, and wow, what a night. Yesterday’s screening sold out, with nearly 250 of you in the seats. We still can’t quite believe it.

This whole thing happened because of you. Our business sponsors, our individual sponsors, our donors, the volunteers who gave up their time to make it run, and our wonderful Minnesota Sri Lankan community. You shared the posts. You spread the word. You cheered us on and showed up with your families. You really are the heartbeat of these events.

This was never just a movie night. It was a celebration of culture, music, and being together. And the win belongs to every single one of us.

About the Film

Clarence – Rhythm of the Guitar is a 2025 Sinhala musical biopic about Clarence Wijewardena, the man many call the “father of Sri Lankan pop music.” The story follows him from his early days in Ratnapura, the “City of Gems,” all the way through the highs of his career. That includes the rise of his famous band Moonstones and its later turn into the Super Golden Chimes with Annesley Malewana. It also tells the story of his love for his wife, Sheela.
